Will this bull market not stop? When the markets bring both a sense of exuberance and the traditional return to volume that you get as September starts you know that the already crazed OTC stock market will show some amazing results. Anyone who goes to the OTC market looking for a steady and sure return may be dreaming just a bit too much. And sure enough we’ve got enough to keep the most hardened risk chasers and adrenaline junkies pleading for soft music, hot chocolate and a nice darkened room.

For example on Wednesday we said InoLife (INOL) was a stellar stock that was rocketing ahead due to some amazing technology that although we frankly did not understand it looked so totally worth it. Well that’s what you may have thought we said. What we meant to say is that it was due a correction. But it didn’t get into the final version, or the first version, or my head. However the market decided that the 3,381.48% was perhaps a bit on the over eager side and decided to slip back a tad, by over 60%. So you would still be about 13 times up on the stock if you’d bought it on Tuesday afternoon and sold it on Thursday evening. Still not really something to buy on Thursday morning.

There’s a certain scepticism creeping in with this stock as there are no real tests to show how good their test really is.

However that at least had a good amount of volume. The highest losing stock that day was Precision Optics Corp Inc (PEYE) who lost 94% of their value with 752 shares changing hands at 6 cents a piece. Yes, that is $45 worth of shares setting the new value.

A couple of the delisted ex bank stocks also showed up again. Towne Bancorp Inc (TWNE) lost another 50% on Friday, with around $32,000 changing hands, and Sonoma Valley Bank Corp (SBNK) made another lurch down by over 40% on Friday. But fear not Home Valley Bankcorp (HVYB) shot up by 74% on a vastly devalued base, but it was only a $40 transaction. It is yet another Californian bank that was closed by the Feds. As you’d expect with such a low value transaction there’s not any recent news and it looks like an outlier.

The resource stocks are doing well. Cheetah Oil & Gas Ltd (COHG) had a sharp up tick, increasing by 560%, to… where it was two weeks ago. Cheetah is one of those extraction punts that focuses on one area, in this case Belmont Lake in Mississippi. The price of this share is linked to how well investors think this is project is going, as well as how small packets of shares trade.

A popular OTC resource stock is Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp (LBSR) which was among the most actively traded shares for four out of five days. As most actively traded stock are not even a cent (which means that small monetary amounts can look like major shifts) these are around ten cents, so there’s some real money going through here. After a decent time at the beginning of the week, they more than halved in value on Thursday to go 52% down. Although they recovered on Friday they are off on the week.

So to green investor friendly stocks. EcoSystem Corp (ESYR) has seen a 575% increase on Thursday with reasonably high turnover of just under half a million dollars, although it again lost much of that on Friday. EcoSystem Corp is in reality not even hitting their monthly high. As a group that wants to make ethanol plants clean they are a technology play, and a green one at that. If the Obama green energy subsidies make it through congress, expect quite a lot of it to be directed towards ethanol by Midwestern Congressmen. It is now owned mostly by Warren Buffet, so seems to be more than your average technology play.

So much for September being a historically down month for the market. Or maybe it is ‘at least we had an up day before another sell off.’

On the big boy market the start of September was greeted by an insane boost across the board as, well, the non farm payroll went down for the first time which proved, I suppose, that we’re not going into recession. Apparently this illogical response was nothing to do with animal spirits and the big boss coming back into the office with buying on his mind, but the fact that manufacturing was doing better than expected. Sure it was.

Well in the OTC market we have irrational and massive boosts and dives all the time.  We’re where real men go fishing for sharks, with their bare hands, blindfolded. So what’s going to excite the real men in the middle of this week in the OTC stock jungle?

If you were going to short any stock, it would have to be those weird bank receivership shares, but although the biggest faller was a bank its still functioning. Go figure. CommunitySouth Financial Corp (CSBO) seems like the big loser. Not much trading, if I’m honest. A package of 10,000 shares, but diving faster than a jet plane that’s dropped its engines. 93% fall in one day. If you’re going to go, go like that.

CommunitySouth owns the Community South Bank & Trust in Greenville.  Its even giving free freshly baked cookies away, although if I held shares in it I’d think that was a fair swap for my certificates. There’s no board up on investor hub at the moment and there’s no news on Google, however there is a warm and fuzzy page up on Wikipedia. Its owned by the local community, but someone in the local community wants to drop it fast. Why? This is OTC, where you can lose 93% of your value and not know why.

I won’t go on about losers but Marine Exploration (MEXP) lost money again on Tuesday, getting into the losers board with another 50% sliced off. As they went from 0.05 cents on Monday to 0.02 cents last Tuesday (then back up again) the fact they’ve rallied again doesn’t really mean much. Meanwhile some investors are accusing the directors of a pump and dump. No guys, you paid them to go sailing and looking for treasure.

So after dousing you with fear, let’s pump you up with greed.  Biggest gainer?  InoLife Technologies Inc (INOL). Three figure percentage gains are for wimps with this stock, on Wednesday it gained 3,381.48%. Yes that’s four figures.  Thirty five times its value in one day.  These guys are not quite bio tech, in that they develop and market rather than do the raw research for medicine.  It’s about to market a “proprietary metabolizing test to physicians and practitioners to identify how a patient’s genetic makeup may affect the body’s response to Plavix”. This is a bestselling anti clotting agent which has come under FDA pressure, and this may make it OK again.

This is why OTC is worth it. If you had around $30,500 in these shares at the beginning of the day, you’d be a millionaire by the end of it. With 59 million shares traded and ending the day at just under 10 cents there was some real money changing hands there, probably around about $4 million taking into account mid day prices.

Another gainer on the general feeling of euphoria is Towne Bancorp (TWNE) a former NASDAQ stock that’s gone on to over the counter. Former delisted stocks. It owns Towne Bank of Arizona in Mesa which, and you’re ahead of me here, is being wound down by the Feds.  Mortgage trouble in Arizona? What next. Despite the big rise there isn’t that much volume on this stock and no news, and even the bulletin boards are asking what’s going on.

The Electric Car Company (ELCR) is still being actively traded, a reflection on what a really low share price can do for volumes.

One active stock I’ve liked for a while is Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp (LBSR). They’re looking at a joint venture deal with Northern Dynasty at the moment which has been driving their price up throughout the month, although a recent lawsuit may cloud the company’s future.

The markets are all in the green today with all the major indecies up about a third of a percent. Let’s take a look at what penny stocks are gaining ground today.

Liberty Star Uranium & Metal Corp. (OTCBB: LBSR) is trading up 30% today in midday trading. It seems like everyday we are talking about this stock. Over the past 3 or 4 trading days LBSR is up nearly 80%. Still no recent news, but there is tons of volume on this stock.

Imaging3 Inc. (OTCBB: IMGG) is trading up 28% with over 4 million shares traded so far, nearly 4 times its daily average volume. Rumors of FDA approval are popping up over at Investorshub so that’s probably the reason for the gains today.

Revolutions Medical Corporation (OTCBB: RMCP) is up 32% with over 530 thousand shares traded so far today. On Monday, the company announced that they were seeking recognition for the RevVac Auto Retractable Safety Syringe winning the 2010 Medical Design Excellence Award. We reported on this stock yesterday and it looks like investors are taking advantage of any good news on this stock.

Hall of Fame Beverages, Inc. (OTC: HFBG) is trading up nearly 17% today after HFBG announced that they were expanding distribution in the northeast.

mPhase Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: XDSL) is up around 11% with over 8 million shares traded so far today. The company announced today that scalable smart reserve cell technology is one of the items included in the Fiscal Year 2011 Defense Appropriations Bill which recently passed out of subcommittee in the House of Represenatives. This technology is listed to receive $2.5 million in funding.

Trading took a dive across the board today with the the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P all down over a percent. Let’s take a look at which penny stocks are moving today.

Infared Systems International (OTCBB: IFRS) is trading up 2,284% in midday trading and was even higher earlier in the day. With no recent news on IFRS this definatly has all the hallmarks of a pump and dump. IFRS is has traded over 16 million shares so far today well above its daily average of a little over a million shares.

Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp. (OTCBB: LBSR) is trading up 18% at $0.14. LBSR has traded 7.8 million shares so far today, which is close to its average of 9 million shares.

Go Solar USA Inc (OTC: GSLO) is trading up 22% today with over 723 thousand shares traded. On Friday Go Solar announced that it is funding the development of PREEcharge for iPAD and Kindle.

Grid Petroleum Corp (OTCBB: GRPR) is trading up 12% today with above average volume. No recent news on GRPR but you can check out their financials from last Thursday.

National Clean Fuels (OTC: NACF) is up 22% today after its newly acquired subsidiary China National Solar launced development of new solar iPhone App named “SolarGenie”. NACF has traded 450 thousand shares well above its daily average of 124 thousand shares.

Revolutions Medical (OTCBB: RMCP) is trading up 24% in midday trading. RMCP is seeking recognition for the RevVac auto retractable safety syringe winning the 2010 Medical Design Excellence Award. RMCP has traded 277 thousand shares so far today, its daily average is only 33 thousand shares.

Rough day on the markets today after news that existing home sales dropped to their lowest level in 15 years. All the major indecies are down about 1 percent in midday trading. It might not be a bad idea to just sit this one out for today. If you are trading, hopefully you managed to get into one of these hot penny stocks.

Pro-Pointer, Inc. (OTC: PPII) is trading up 13% in midday trading. Today, the company announced a revolutionary supplement for stress and anxiety. PPII is trading at 0.13 with over 3 million shares in volume.

Adama Technologies (OTCBB: ADAC) is having a monster day today. ADAC is trading up 465% and has been even higher today. At market open the company reported on advanced negotiations to merge with privately-held Clean Tech Empire. ADAC has traded over 20 million shares so far today, well above their 3 month average of only 143 thousand shares.

Cannon Exploration, Inc (OTC: CNEX) is up around 6% in midday trading today. We mentioned yesterday that it had no recent news and could be a possible pump. Well still no news today, so if you do trade this I would be extremely careful. The stock is having a huge volume day with over 100 million shares traded with a 3 month average of only 169 thousand shares.

Emisphere Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: EMIS) is trading up 6% on average volume.

Emergin Healthcare Solutions (OTC: EHSI) is trading up 26% today on above average volume. On Monday, the CEO called the results of a new stem-cell study an “encouraging step” towards organ regeneration.

Beacon Enterprise Solutions Group, Inc. (OTCBB: BEAC) is up 27% today in midday trading. BEAC is trading at about double the stock’s normal volume. Last Friday, the company filed their SEC form 8-K.

Well even when the market as a whole is down, you can still find penny stocks moving. While some penny stocks moved on news, others continue to move for no “apparent” reason.

Today at midday, the stock market as a whole looks pretty boring. The Dow’s up 10 points, the Nasdaq down 8 points and the S&P’s up 1 point. One area of the stock market that never looks boring is penny stocks.

Let’s take a look at 5 penny stocks making moves today.

The Amergence Group (OTC: AMNG) is up around 16% today. This company has been releasing news steadily for about 2 weeks now. On Friday, after the market close, the company announced the PanPacific Travel Network for its subsidiary PanPacific International. AMNG is trading well above average volume today with over 46 million shares, far above its 3 month average of just over 6 million shares.

El Maniel Interntional (OTCBB: EMLL) is up 25% on huge volume with over 184 million shares traded. EMLL traded as high as 0.0012 but has gone down to 0.0010. No real news of the company in the past few days. They released their financials on Friday and last Tuesday the company announced they were exploring mining opportunities in West Africa.

Sino Agro Food (OTC: SIAF) is trading up 14% today on good volume. No real news on this company in the last week or so. This could be traders accumulating shares before the company’s shareholder conference call on August 30.

TAMM Oil and Gas Corp. (OTCBB: TAMO) is trading up nearly 15% with about double the company’s average volume traded so far. On Friday, TAMO announced that they engaged Chapman Petroleum Engineering Ltd to prepare an updated evaluation of the company’s heavy oil project in an effort to expedite the development of TAMM’s core heavy oil property.

Cannon Exploration, Inc. (OTC: CNEX) is up 25% to 0.0016 with over 55 million shares traded. No real news on this company in the last few weeks, so who knows why it’s going up today. Could be a possible pump.

Never a boring day in the penny stock world. Some stocks run on news, and some stocks move for what appears to be no reason at all. Always remember to tread carefully when trading penny stocks. There’s plenty of money to be made as well as lost.

August is always quiet. Fewer people at their desks, investors in their beach huts (owned or rented) and volume is about the lowest it will ever be except around Christmas. That’s when the office boy rallies happen – when the big boys are in the Caribbean reacquainting themselves with their third wife and seventh child. So just the right time for a pump and dump.

Forget the cocoa market (that’s quite cool by the way cornering Hershey bars, fighting obesity one trade at a time and the fat girl won’t know it’s your fault). If you want nefarious dealings on the trading floor you just have to look for penny stocks. There’s bound to be something going on, and August is the time to do it.

Our latest pump and dump was PPBL (OTC: PPBL), a cash box (or a Special Purpose Acquisitions Company for those who don’t like vulgar terms of abuse) that used to publish a lot of magazines but now seem to do a bit of bespoke publishing of poker advertorials for online gambling companies and have just bought the small TV production company BOLD TV whose flagship show is Who the Hell is Dan Bruder? Well we don’t have a clue. Anyway they don’t really have much money and they are $8 million in debt. That’s according to their March filings. We still haven’t seen the June ones.

So PPBL went up a lot, and now they’re down, hard. Around 37% on Friday.

Anyway it seems that Investor Hub is caught in a bit of a storm over this ugly duckling.  I know. The old ADVFN in a stock ramping scandal, it’s reassuring. It may be nothing to do with the whole thing, but one of their popular stock pickers, Grandbob has been accused of taking 500,000 shares while singing the stock’s praises, and his board got closed.

PPBL was a reasonably well covered stock. To show how some stocks move almost without reason, Lixte (OTCBB: LIXT) became a ten bagger on Friday, but it was an up and down week, going up from 0.2  on Monday cents and finishing on 0.6 cents.  The company is testing various lead based cures for brain cancer. It’s been under the radar, and hasn’t even put out a news release for a year, so this is probably a product of low volumes, as the rise was all on Friday and they suffered a massive fall on the Thursday. Up three times in value on no news? It really shows the risks of thinly traded stocks.

One formerly prominent climber is Washington Mutual (OTC: WAMUQ) the subprime, sorry, aspiration focussed, home loan provider, although they were back near their old levels by the end of the week. This is a popular stock with the stock tippers, perhaps because most people remember the place going bankrupt. This is also a reasonably liquid stock as a lot of people held it until, well, they went bust. Well the shareholders still do hold them, but they can only trade them on the OTC market.

It got more liquid this week as first there has been the aftermath of a reasonably favorable court decision for the stockholders, but towards the end of the week three hedge funds decided to sell up; all at once.

Another massive upward mover, although it lost half its gain was Heli Electronics Corp (OTCBB: HELI), which after some feverish speculation put out some sober financials which saw the stock lose half its gain from the first three days.

One of the big losers was the Motors Liquidation Company (OTC: MTLQQ), the former GM stock. At times they’ve got a higher transaction volume than Procter & Gamble. The price of this is almost guaranteed to be zero so the wonder is not that they’re falling but that anyone’s still buying them.

In other news JBI Inc, (JBII) has just been upgraded to the OTC QX tier, the Pink Sheets proxy stock market (just don’t call it that), and there are claims that it’s going on to NASDAQ. This one’s just great. It converts plastic into oil. So recycling and solving the world’s energy needs. I wonder if there’s a perpetual motion machine there?  Seriously this could be a real gem, if it’s for real. Think about it this way, even if it’s not economical in its own terms, if it really can do what it says it’s probably going to collect an almighty government subsidy.

Other stocks going to the OTC QX level are foreign quotations, such as the Canadian VG Gold Corp. (VGGCF), the Australian Energy World Corp. Ltd (EWCLY) and the Dutch supermarket operator Ahold (AHONY).

HELI Electronics CP (OTCBB: HELI) was up 44% today with over 83 million shares traded. HELI released their second quater financial results on today.

Shares of Alamo Energy Corp. (OTCBB: ALME) rose 8.5% today on above average volume. Alamo Energy Corp. filed Sec Form 8-K on Monday.

Greenshift Corporation (OTCBB: GERSD) closed up 28.5% after announcing that Greenshift and Center Ethanol settled patent infringemnt case.

Shares of Liquidmetal Technologies Inc. (OTC: LQMT) rose 11.8% today. LQMT average daily volume is a little over a million shares. Today, LQMT traded over 10 million shares.

The Amergence Group (OTC: AMNG) traded up 12.8% today on average volume with over 3 million shares traded.

Mundus Group, Inc. (OTC: MNDP) is up over 150% in midday trading on huge volume. MNDP announced that U.S. Border Patrol expressed interest in AirStar Industrial drone uavs to assist in seeing underground tunnels near and around the San Diego U.S. border.

Shares of South Shore Resource (OTC: SSHO) are up 66% with over 6 million shares traded. On Monday, SSHO annouced that they were conducting an independent third party dynamometer evaluation, testing and verification of HyProStar Hydrogen Generating Module with a comparison to management road test.

HELI Electronics CP (OTCBB: HELI) is up 40% so far today. HELI is up on huge volume today with over 55 millon shares traded. Average volume for HELI is 3 million shares.

Shares of Imaging3 Inc. (OTCBB: IMGG) are up 18% on average volume. On August 11, IMGG filed financials.

TOMI Environmental Solutions, Inc (OTCBB: TOMZ) is up 33% with over 454 thousand shares traded in midday trading. On Monday, TOMZ secured international contract, demonstrates viability in Asian markets.

Shares of China Clean Energy (OTCBB: CCGY) are up 25 % today after CCGY announced second quarter 2010 financial results.

Alphatrade.com (OTCBB: APTD) is trading up 13% today with another huge volume day. Over 83 million shares have been traded so far, certainly more explosive than their daily volume of just 30 thousand shares. The company recently filed their SEC form 8-K. (OTCBB:APTD), (APTD)

Shares of Imaging3 Inc. (OTCBB: IMGG) are up 26% in midday trading with over 3 million shares traded. IMGG released their financials on Wednesday. (OTCBB:IMGG), (IMGG)

New Energy Systems Group (OTCBB: NEWN) is trading up nearly 8% in midday trading. On Friday, NEWN recieved approval to list on NYSE AMEX. (OTCBB:NEWN), (NEWN)

Shares of Advanced Lighting Solutions, Inc (OTC: AVLS) are trading up 17% after the company announced additional bulk REO offers made to the company. (OTC:AVLS), (AVLS)
